Meet Maya

5/2001
Hi Shirley!    It's been so long since I've written!  I hope all is well with you.  How are all of the birds?  I still can't get over your adorable Greenwing!  Maya is very easy going and handles adjustments so well.  She and our cockatoo are in the same room now but Syd still wont play with her.  I'm hoping in time this too will change. The photo of Maya was taken tonight.  She's so silly and wasn't afraid of the ugly old camera at all!  She is doing really well, is still so friendly and lovable. Jim says that she says 'mama' when she sees me in the driveway!  She says her name and will say 'lo when you walk in the door...her version of hello!  I've also heard her say uh-oh :) Take care darlene

Meet Bella - TX

9/2002
Hi Shirley--
Just thought I would update you on Bella's progress.  She is doing great!!!  She is starting to learn to stay on her perch...although she spends a lot of time with me-going around the house with me while I get things done.  I think I told you before she didn't like it when I take her cage outside to wash....so I just wash the cage and careful not to get her wet.  But.....she LOVES to get in the bathtub!!!  I fill it up with just an inch or two of water and she literally JUMPS in and splashes around until she's had enough.  She loves red grapes...her favorite treat...and still eats a serving of mixed veggies every day along with the Zupreem and usually another fruit and some peanuts in the evening on her perch.  Another favorite is apple muffins.  She has not really taken to the rest of the family although she will tolerate my husband getting her in and out of the cage for "perch time".  She is really a joy and a great addition to our family!!  Thanks again....

Meet Pancho - TX

7/2003
Hi Shirley-- Well, I finally got some pictures developed of Pancho!  He great!!  He is really coming along good with stepping up and socializing with all of us.  I took your advice and went to the local bulk bin store...got bags of all kinds of nuts and stuff for all the birds.  They LOVE it and their feathers are looking much better...and I think Bella is putting on a little weight.  She is being really nice to Pancho...sharing her perch and all....but I don't think Pancho is taking to her as quick!!  I'm enclosing a few pictures of both of them..... Lacey

Meet Mortimer - TX

4/2004
Here are some pictures of Mortimer.  He is doing great.  We really love him,  he is so kind.  Kyle taught him to stand on a perch.  He likes standing on it.  The perch is more comfortable. He will get on it by him self now.  He loves bananas and apples.  He jabbers allot.  He is very spoiled.  Right now he is watching TV.
Love, Lee & Jan

Mortimer

4/13/05

Hey Shirley,   How ya doing.  Jan and I are doing great.  I thought that I would send you some recent pictures of Mortimer.  Mortimer rules the roost around here.  He is finally looking good.  He looked horrible going threw his molt.  Mortimer talks so much.  You have to watch what you say, he picks up everything he here's.  When we walk into our house after being gone for a day he says, Hello, I love you.  He is so cool.   I hope this email finds you and your family in good health.
Lee and Jan

Meet Ergo - TX

2/2004
Hi Shirley- I just wanted to thank you again for the wonderful purchase.  Ergo (she) is doing great…a real cuddler and loves to go for walks and sit out on the deck with me.  Took a couple of introductions, but she has taken a liking to my dog, Butch, so now she thinks he is a play toy too.  I will try and send you some photos of her soon; as of right now, the only ones I have a very large files because I have been taking some good stills of her.  I will let you know when I have some available as soon as possible.
Thanks again for the awesome bird!!!
Sincerely,
Marshall Hilliard and Ergo

Hi Shirley,  Just wanted to let you know that the birdie is doing great. He at least tries all of the different foods that I put in front of him. He really likes broccoli and carrots, but eats allot of different stuff. He is finally starting to make some noises now but is mostly pretty quiet.          John

Meet Sonny

1/13/05
hi shirley,

I just thought I would write to you and let you know that Sonny is doing great. He is quite a character. I must tell you, I have read a lot of articles that tell us what terrors these birds are. One thing they do say is that it is important who you get them from. Well I guess I got very lucky when I found you. Sonny is nothing like those birds that all of these people talk about. He is one of the family the only time he spends in his cage is at night when I go to bed. I have him housebroken (this impresses my friends) so he has free reign of the house. I think he thinks he is a dog, he does bark that is pretty funny.

well I guess I took up enough of your time. Again I thank you for sending me
such a wonderful friend. I will recommend you to anyone who is ever looking
for a bird you did a great job with mine.

Meet Griffin

he SURE is SWEET.

Thanks.

Meet Thomas!

4/24/05
We just finished our first walk outside this morning.
He took to the leash just fine.  I guess he likes the blue.
He really didn't mind the collar around his neck and under his wings.
He was happy though to  get back inside the patio.   We're still working on his laying on his back without support for his feet.
His real comfort zone seems to be on my left shoulder hugged next to my neck.

7/15/05

Hi Shirley:
Thomas is still doing great.  Loves his head scratched.  Funny thing though, a couple of months ago he spoke a phrase:  ??????? come here kitty.  Odd hugh!  He loves music and being around me; so much so that sometimes if I just up and leave a room and his is out of his cage, he will fly to the room where I am ---- yes, ALL of his flight feathers are still cut.  He's a strong flyer it seems.  All in all, he's a great bird.  Loves music too and our other bird.  They love singing together.  Just now, he came into my bedroom.  Guess he wants a shower this morning.
 Bye for now.
  Jack

Meet KoKo

9/5/05
Hi Shirley.  I purchased a Timneh African Grey from you just over a year ago for my mother in Arkansas...........picked it up in Dallas and drove it to her.
Well, he has been a wonderful addition to our family.  My mother loves KoKo dearly.
In the following attachment is a photo of KoKo along side her other little bird, Niki.  The two are quite good friends and share perches and toys quite well for completely different species of bird.  Both of them get so much attention and love that they are just happy little birds.
Thought you might enjoy the photo and feel good knowing one of your Grey's is in a good home.
Jen

Meet Gabby!

2/7/06
Dear Shirley:

Attached is a photo of Gabby on her 1st birthday (today) having her birthday cupcake. She is a very sweet bird and we enjoy her a lot. She seems to like everyone. She talks a little, whistles a lot and meows like a cat. She is  currently working on learning the theme to Andy Griffith show, working on her monkey sound and dog howl.  She knows when we are in the kitchen, its time to eat and won't let us ignore her.

 Sincerely,

Terry Thomas

Meet Lexie

3/18/06

Hi Shirley,

Made it home just fine with Lexie. She is making herself right at home and is very lovable. She already sits on my shoulder and rubs checks with me and makes lots of different sounds.

Thanks. Mike

Meet Tex!

3/20/06
He rode right there all the way till about 2 hours from home then he got on my shoulder and give me kiss’s on the ear and went to sleep till we got to the house.
My son thought I was crazy for getting a bird but, he likes O Tex’s too.
Me and my wife really enjoyed visiting with you and watching you feed the babies. That was some thing we had never seen before.
My wife was a little scared of  Tex but she gave him applies on the way home and she is starting to like him to.
Anyway thank you very much we really like Tex and really enjoyed talking with you. Todd

3/25/06

Hi, Shirley,
Thought you might like to see one of your babies settling in in his new home.

Photo #1:  Baby Grey munches on a carrot while supervising my finishing touches on his cage. He and I hung out at the table (and him on my lap) for quite awhile, with the cage near to get him used to and curious about it. He wasn't the least bit phased by my cat, Button, who sat on the floor.

Meet Andy

4/4/2006

Hi Shirley,

Just wanted to check in and let you know Andy made the trip beautifully.  I am amazed at how well adjusted he is. On the way home I put him in his travel cage and he hung on the top of the cage like a monkey, happily played with his new toys, cuddled in a towel with me and ate very well.  He went to the vet today and received a clean bill of health.  The vet said he looked great!!  I will keep you updated!  Here are a few pictures I took yesterday and today.

Thank for everything!!

 Christy

Meet Andy

4/24/06
Andy is doing great.  He is trying to talk, he mumbles to himself all the time. I have a question, how did you bath Andy before he came to me?  I am having a hard time getting him to take a bath.  He hates a squirt bottle and a drip of a faucet. He has some interest in a shallow dish but doesn't quite get it.  I would like to know exactly how, dish color, depth, size etc.  I know that seems nit picky but obviously I am not doing it right.  Otherwise Andy is doing fabulous,he loves his birdie bread and makes baby sounds when he eats it (it's so cute).  He plays with his toys constantly!  I enclosed  pic of his favorite toy of the week, his basket full of toys.

Meet Andy!

5/20/06
Hey There Shirley,

Hope all is well. I Just thought I would update you on Andy, he is doing great!! I did get him to take a bath with misting and a vacuum running ( I think he thought it was a rain storm) anyway it was cute.  Andy is bonding to us very well, he definitely prefers the girls in the house, but will take warm soft food from anyone.  He is talking up a storm!!  He talks all day ( I can't understand half of what he is saying, but it's still cute)  I have heard a Hello, Hi, Uh-oh, Peek-a-boo, a cockatiel call , wolf whistle and a smack sound.  He is so incredibly smart, yesterday he was watching me clean his cage and I removed a breeder door, cleaned it and replaced it along with the screw.  I left for a while, when I came home, here was Andy sitting at the top the stairs out of his cage!!. He had not only removed the screw but the entire door as well.  He had never even touched that door before. What a smart baby you raised. Don't worry that door is very secure now.  He has also mastered the art of food flinging ( like all greys) Andy managed to fling a piece of carrot a good 10 feet and hit my husband in the head.  Anyway, he is quite a joy.  Here is a picture of Andy taking a bath.

Meet Dusky

4/9/08 - Hi Shirley,
I just wanted to let you know that Dusky arrived safe and sound and has been to the vet and the vet was very impressed with him.  He is a wonderful bird and I just want to thank you for doing such a good job with him.  He seems to be adjusting well to his new environment and is letting me know that he wants to be in charge!

Debbi
