| My computer crashed several months ago
and I lost this page of my website with all the letters from the new
owners of my babies. I will be posting on this page comments I have received
since 6/15/08 - I may have to make another page to put up all the messages
I have gotten. Some will have pictures and all will have the names
of their birds which you should be able to locate on other Happy Birds
Pages. Please be patient. I am trying to get this done between
feeding babies and all other activities here. I apologize if there
are duplicates from other pages. |

6/15/08 - Sydney
Sydney is doing great. She is such a cuddle
bug. We just love her so much. We also made her a play stand
out of PVC pipe which is not complete yet. It will be upstairs in
our room. I will send pictures as we still need to get more piping
and attachments.

7/14/08 - Faith
Hi hope things are well with you. Wanted to give you
and update on Smokey, she is settling in good, she is eating great she
is willing to try any fruits and veggies and is eating her dry food as
well. She is growing good. She is starting to say some words, like
"pretty Girl" and uh oh, and she is saying some baby talk
stuff that we can't understand yet. But is doing whistles and is quickly
gaining her control of the household with the other animals, a boxer and
two cats. She is bonding really well with my mom and she is more than
pleased with her as well. She is such a happy and well adjusted little
girl, she is loveable but gets her point across when she needs to. She
is not afraid of anything and has been really agreeable to new toys and
play things.
I hope things are well on your end. I can see you are
still really busy.
Here is a picture of her I have more but my computer
is not cooperating with me today so will send more later.

7/17/08 - Khaufu
Hello Shirley;
Just staying in touch and updating you on Khaufu. He's doing very
well, is spoiled rotten with toys and is still learning more and more
words, says and sings all manner of stuff. I took all the birds
outside yesterday and they seemed to have a wonderful time and got some
sun. I've attached pictures of Khaufu on his global swing hanging
from hook under the deck. Take care.

| 7/20/08 - Faith
Hi Shirley, The trip home was delightful. Really
enjoyed meeting you. Faith is so absolutely adorable. She wasted no time
coming out of her travel cage and up under my neck for me to rub her
head. She spent the whole 2 hours trip home there. Got her home and let
her explore her new cage. She loved it played with all the toys and ate
and drank. She did really well last night and was happy to see us this
morning. She is really alert and observing everything. Doesn't mind us
handling her and rubbing her head. She is truly a delight to have in our
home. Thank you so very much Keith and Sherrie Pictures soon....

7/20/08 - Guappo
How are you Shirley? Guappo and I are fine. I was wondering if a Double
Headed Yellow would get along with Guappo. If so, what would I need to accommodate
the addition. You know what? The roost box was such a great idea. Guappo
loves to go there to sleep and he will sit in the door way of the box and
chatter away. Do you need any more blue towels? I will send you some if
you need them. I’ll attach a couple of photos. I have one of Guappo
eating a California Roll.
Warmest Regards,
Doug

7/29/08 - Albus
Hi Shirley!
Albus is doing wonderfully. He's super acrobatic in his cage and
does wonderfully with independent play. He only "demands"
to come out when I wake up in the mornings and around 6:00 when he's used
to getting his soft foods. And if I'm late on that, he lets me know
about it :-) He stays out for most of the day when I'm at home
though. He's going through his first molt right now. He's
handling it pretty well. He's got tons of feathers coming in on his
back. And he's starting to lose some of his gold feathers, too.
He enjoys a long head scratch more than ever now.
I left the country for a couple weeks and just got home a few days ago.
My grandmother took care of him and said he was a perfect pleasure.
She's always enjoyed Hermione, but she's, until I had to leave, been
slightly afraid of Albus because he's so much bigger. She found out
those two weeks, though, that he's far sweeter than Hermione--those Greys
can be quite opinionated.
Albus usually has one burst of sounding off each night; it usually last
about a minute or so, and then he's satisfied--which is FAR less than what
I've heard other macaws tend to do. But when he decides he needs to
go on longer, my usual comment is something like "Okay, Albus, that's
enough." Or a stern "Albus." My Grey has picked
it up. And when Albus sounds off for a while she'll say "Albus,
that's enough" or "Albus!" It's quite entertaining.
The first Hermione did it, Albus looked at her like "Did you just
tell me to be quiet?" At that she looked right at her and
screamed again. She responded with "Albus!" They got
into a screaming match of "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" "Albus"
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" "Albus" "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
"Albus" that had to last a solid three minutes. And each
round got louder as if they were trying to scream louder than the other.
All we could do was sit, cover our ears and laugh.
Thanks again....he's a joy.

| 8/1/08 - Khaufu
Khaufu is almost a year old. I'm attaching some
photo's from last week for you to see. He loves the out doors it
turns out, so long as he isn't in a cage. Once I put his rope
swings out there, he and I discovered he loves it as well as taking
walks while sitting on my shoulder. So long as he can see
me, he's happy to be on his swing with his toys in the back yard.
He's still talking his head off to us, sings and whistles as well.
My vet says he is a very happy, healthy and intelligent TAG. But
I've always known that. Take care.

8/3/08 - Rocky
Hello Shirley how have you been. Hope all is well, Rocky turned 8mos on
the 3rd of Aug. He is doing well and we love him. I have a question about
molting i am pretty sure he is molting but i want to be sure. At what age
do they start to molt or is everyone different? I tried to introduce him
to bathing and he was not having it. Do you have any suggestions also he
figured out how to untwist his toy hook no matter how tight i tighten it
he is really smart. |

8/4/08 - Sitka
Hi Shirley We finally made it home. Sitka is a beautiful
bird. He was making little bird noises in the car and ate the last
half hour of the ride. He is in his cage now exploring and watching
what everybody is doing. He is very tired. He wants to sleep
but I think is a little nervous. I recieved his care package
today. I didnt recieve his water bottle or perch yet. I will
send pics soon and keep you updated on him. Thank you for such a
beautiful bird. Amanda |

8/4/08 - Sitka
I wanted to let you know I got Sitka a water bottle. Its plastic
(they didn't have glass) but I have it on the outside. He has drank
out of it. It will do for a few days till I receive the other
bottle. He is napping now. :) |

8/6/08 - Kindle
Shirley,
Hello again! I purchased a Grey named Kindle born
2/29/08. I am writing to say first of all he is the most loving bird I
have ever met! Secondly, I noticed there were people who did not get the
sex of the Congo they wanted. If they no longer wanted it due to the
wrong sex.....I would purchase one. I would not care. Please let met
know.
Thank You Evelyn Kindle New Mexico

8/6/08 - Bella
Hi Shirley,
Bella is home and she is beautiful. Her plane landed at 5:40 p.m.
and I had her 10 minutes later. When we got home she did not want to
step up out of her carrier so I put her carrier in her cage and she came
right out. She is exploring her new cage and toys now. I will
let her settle in, she has had a long day. I hope Cosmo makes it out
of Houston. Thanks so much. We will keep in touch.

awesome. and So smart.

get a personality!! Thank you so much for taking such good care of him.

8/20/08 - Bella
Hi Shirley,
Bella is doing fine. She is so loveable. She took formula for
the first five days and then refused it. I think that is what she
needed while adjusting to her new flock. She has gained
about 20 grams and is eating and drinking very well. She
started sleeping on a perch her second night here and she does step up and
down. She loves being out of her cage but is not too crazy about the
other birds yet. Our vet commented on how beautiful her coloring
was. Thanks so much for my beautiful girl.

9/5/08 - Scooter
Well Scooter turned 1 this past July. He is
still such a sweetie and definitely a MAMA'S boy.
He will not stay on his perch when I'm in the room.
He climbs down and will follow me with one
foot held up wanting to step up. He doesn't talk much. He
will say hi, hello, step up, and cracker but that's
about it. He's a screamer when he can't see me. He still
likes to nibble on fingers but bites a
little too hard. I know he's just playing but it hurts and he
doesn't understand "don't bite" or "easy"
even though that is what I've been trying to teach him
since the beginning. He still loves sweet
potatoes. His colors are so beautiful and he knows it.

| 9/6/08 - Moxie
Hi Shirley,
Moxie has made it home safely and is adjusting slowly. She was very
friendly yesterday and eager to play with lots of people. We did learn
that while she did not mind the carrier, movement of the carrier, mainly
between places, was not good and she managed to lose everything in her
crop (a big mess for a little bird). She is eating, but mostly when she is
hand-fed. Right now she is sleeping on top of her cage and quite readily
comes on and off of the top with very little coaxing. She does, however,
love to cuddle people. I will enjoy the cuddling while it lasts. She is
also quite vocal with little sing song that is rather quiet but fun. She
does like to make many noises, including the cheeps and coos. |

9/6/08 - Moxie
Shirley,
Moxie is definitely adjusting well!
The two other people she met are both very experienced bird people (one
was Anna who was there with me). Moxie’s first top of cage experience
was this morning and she did like it. For the most part, I’m keeping her
entertained but ensuring she rests. I was concerned yesterday because she
threw up a lot and having her eat and drink was my only priority. She ate
some last night and definitely is getting feisty again. It is fun how she
likes to vocalize, mostly with chirps. She is good at letting me know when
she wants something. I’ve not let her fly because when she hits it
scares me so she has been kept restrained but really encouraged to flap
her wings (which she LOVES to do). The first day was definitely difficult
but exciting for her. Now, she is happily inside her cage eating and
drinking between her frequent naps. She is not being pushed hard since she
has only met three people including myself. When she was throwing up I
went to a friend who was experienced with birds and Moxie calmed down very
quickly and started eating some nuts. When she came home, she really liked
her cage and has been exploring a lot, but very little inverted yet.
I expect her to adjust well and we
are concerned about her welfare! She will meet her vet on Wednesday but I
expect that to be a formality more than anything since she is behaving
like a very healthy (and active) bird! I am quite happy and now that the
immediate excitement has gone we can settle into a calm home for Moxie
with lots of love and stimulation. She seems very happy!!
I will keep you posted and sent
pictures as she adjusts more and we find new ways to interest her which
has not been an issue yet. She is a truly wonderful bird and welcome
member to my home J
